MIckey Sherman, SuperLawyer?

I see this guy Mickey Sherman on TV a lot as a legal commentator. I think he used to comment a lot on Court TV, and, when I see him now, he's always referred to as a "high-profile" or "prominent" criminal defense attorney. All I actually know about him is that he represented Michael Skakel--and lost. I'm not blaming him for that, but I just don't understand why this guy is such a hot legal commentator. Last night, on the Abrams Report on MSNBC, the "experts" were debating whether Michael Jackson would testify. Sherman said, and I swear this is true, "I don't see what he has to lose." And today, I read this little blurb about him at Indefensible. Again, I find myself asking why the heck this guy is some go-to legal commentator.

He was actually recently "disinvited" from giving a graduation speech at the high school he graduated from.

So maybe not everyone's so hot on him.

Well, he was disinvited because he had the nerve to represent a few kids accused of DUI. However, in that part of Connecticut, unless you represent people accused of securities fraud you are worse than Hitler.

To CourtTV, anyone is a “high profile” lawyer. Since they are not really for lawyers (but for lay people who could not handle law school) they have to make their commentators, who will simplify any issue, seem like they matter.

I agree with Anonymous. To Court TV, anyone is "high profile". M.Sherman has always been an extremely intelligent, talented and dedicated attorney. He may be on MSNBC frequently; but he still meets his clients very early in the morning before a court appearance. "What else can I say? He's the best lawyer in the state of Connecticut."

His laptop was taken just before the Skakel trial, or so I was told by the person who took it. Info may have been relayed via a 3rd party to John Benedict, there are clues to this being the case. Several people know, but so far somehow it hasn't made it to press.

If he were a superlawyer, he would have come forward with this by now to help out his innocent client, Michael Skakel.

If "super" means ethically challenged then yes, he is a "Super Lawyer".

He just admitted to ethics violations, and is surrounded in other ethics controversy---just bad news.

Like most defense lawyers he's full of shit , stupid enough to think anyone buys into the obvious bullshit nonsense that spews from his ass , oops , sorry I meant mouth . Defense lawyers are ALL pieces of human trash , their job is to perpetuate crime , to them , it's job security .

I'm in the midst of completing sherman's book "how can you defend those people," it's a great read. If you are at all interested in law or just looking for a good book, get it! He's a great attorney and really cares about his clients; clearly one of the top attorney's in the northeastern region if not the country..

hmm.. me think crowman will sing a diff story if he, his wife, or kids are ever accused of a crime. mickey's book is, frankly, one of the best i've ever read--honest, funny and a real insider's look at the circus of american justice. he calls himself on his own bullshit and opens up about what it's like to be a defense attorney with idiots like crowman running around.

Mickey was reprimanded TWICE in a year's time, so that makes him less than a super lawyer especially when you throw in the lawsuits being filed against him by clients for mishandling of funds and the reported settlement with former client Yalincak ( Sherman's actions stemming from his representation of Yalincak led to the reprimands_.

I only read excerpts of his book & it was OK but his self deprecating manner wears thin after a while and seems fake, forced. He does have a face for radio as he is looking more & more like an old, orange Augustus Gloop as he ages.

I read your comments here. Mickey Sherman defended me and my family in a DCF (Division of Family Service) case. They are the most dysfunctional, uneducated, idiots that people can encounter in the name of law, justice, or public assistance. They are a poor example of what good government can do for the people. I never want anything to ever do with them. They helped to damage or destroy my children, my wife, and myself. Mickey did a great job and won the case against them. I am forever grateful. One day, the people will rise against organizations like these with or without the attorneys. Then they better run for the hills.

Thanks Mickey.

You are a real guy.

From your friends,
